District 9

District 9 covers north Franklin County including Connell, Mesa, and Basin City, as well as all of Adams, Whitman, Columbia, Asotin, and Garfield County, and large parts of Lincoln and Spokane County, but none of the Tri-Cities. I guess the “earth is over populated” crowd hasn’t heard of Adams County.

Senator-Republican Mark Schoessler is not up for re-election.

Representative- Republicans Mary Dye and Joe Schmick are running unopposed, but have been strong conservative voices in Olympia.

District 15

District 15 is another large geographical district that appears to be designed to capture Hispanic voters since it covers Central and East Pasco, the Yakima Valley towns of Sunnyside, Grandview, Zillah, Mattawa, and SE Yakima. Unfortunately, the state Constitution didn’t connect Senators and Representatives with the counties. It would put an end to all of this gerrymandering. The positive of gerrymandering of the Democrats in this state is that it shows the racial stereotyping that occurs. The assumption is that people with brown skin vote Democrat. The reality is: people who like keeping more of what they earn, support family values, and want the government out of their hair come in all colors.

Senator- Nikki Torres- Republican- She had to give up her Pasco Council seat after only a few months because she moved into the 15th District to run for Senate. She’s unopposed.

Rep– Bruce Chandler and Bryan Sandlin are Republicans running unopposed.

District 16

District 16 is another highly gerrrymandered district that covers Walla Walla County, West Richland and East Kennewick as well as most of Benton County that is NOT Richland and West Kennewick.

Senator Perry Dozier is not up for re-election.

Rep-Position 1

Sharon K. Schiller-Peace and Freedom Party- Nice sounding party, if it actually existed. She does not have a website, but expressed some incongruent views that called for more police, but wanted them to be paid for by the state. Not a serious candidate.

Mark Klicker-Republican-INCUMBENT- He is looking for a second term, and though he is the only choice for a Christian, he is a good choice. He’s pro-dam, pro-police support, pro-low taxes. He doesn’t take a published stand on abortion, but did vote against Inslee’s insane bill to make abortion access a law, as well as voting against all of the anti-2nd Amendment bills that passed through the legislature of the past few years.https://www.klickerforrep.com/

Mark Strickler- Democrat– Here’s his website. Punish yourself if you want by reading it. https://www.electjeffstrickler.com/ He thinks windmills and solar panels help farmers. Wow! Like Doug White, Strickler really doesn’t want you to know he’s a Democrat.

Klicker is the obvious choice, though if he doesn’t win the primary handily, the Democrats may dump some money into Strickler’s campaign.

Position 2

Skyler Rude- Republican- INCUMBENT- Rude votes conservative most of the time. However, he has made some strange calls of late voting to increase access to physician assisted suicide (aka-murder), and to establish school based health centers, which are also endorsed by Planned Parenthood (can you say, “on campus abortion mill”?).

Jan Corn-Democrat– Corn doesn’t know that we live in a republic (not a democracy). She is also endorsed by the sexist National Women’s Political Caucus, which you won’t be surprised to hear also endorses Planned Parenthood. Its always odd to see people who are successful business owners who vote Democrat. https://www.electjancorn.com/

Neither of these candidates are worth voting for. Write in your pastor.
