Ft. Wright was named after a mid 19th Century US Army General. If his name is cancelled because he fought and won a battle, is any military name safe from the woke mob because there doesn’t seem to be any military leaders who were honored in peace time. By this logic, all military names should be cancelled because they might hurt the feelings of the person they won the battle against. Washington, Grant, Roosevelt, Pershing, Eisenhower, MacArthur. In fact,it has always seemed strange that we have a local high school, Kamiakin, named after an enemy combatant of the United States. It is clear the US Government was horrible on many fronts as it concerns the Indians, but why would we honor someone who directly or indirectly fought against Americans and was involved in murders of settlers?
